What is Continuing Education?
As a REALTOR®, you have your real estate license, and in order to remain in good standing with the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission (OREC) you must complete Continuing Education (CE). CE requirements ensure that real estate professionals are up to date on changes in the industry and are continually working in the best interest of the public. The type of real estate license you have (sales association, broker, etc.) determines how many hours of CE you need, and what sort of classes you need to take. A complete listing of questions about CE can be found on the OREC website.
What counts as Continuing Education?
There are a myriad of courses available that are registered with OREC that count towards CE. However, as a REALTOR®, you have access to CE opportunities from your local board, and as well as unique educational opportunities provided by the Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® which can help you complete CE hours in ways that interest you and benefit your career.
How does OAR help?
Online Education: We offer many ways to earn CE hours. One way is through the online courses available on our website. OAR partners with VanEd to provide the opportunity to take licensing courses for sales associates, as well as the Broker-In-Charge course for brokers and those aspiring to attain their broker license.
To find our online education portfolio, click on the Professional Development tab at okrealtors.com, you will find the online portal which will lead you to our collection of online courses. Once you click on the online portal, you will see different options of courses with the number of CE hours they’ve been approved for. Once you register for one of those classes, it becomes available to you for whenever you decide to take it.
OAR Annual Conference
Another benefit of being a REALTOR® is being able to the OAR Annual Conference each fall. The conference features world-class speakers and educational opportunities you cannot find anywhere else in the state of Oklahoma. So, along with a myriad the other fun things we offer at the conference, you will get CE for attending classes which will help you grow professionally and will challenge you to improve your business!
GRI designation
Another way you can earn CE credit is by working on your Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation. GRI is an opportunity for REALTORS® to go deeper in their understanding of the real estate industry and distinguish themselves in a competitive environment. To earn the GRI designation, you are required to complete four classroom instruction modules and 2 Professional Requirements within 5 years. The Modules and Professional Requirements are lined out on the GRI website – okrealtors.com/gri.
The GRI designation distinguishes you as someone who is committed to providing the best service to home buyers and sellers because you continue to educate yourself and advance yourself as a real estate professional.
There are plenty of opportunities OAR provides to help you with earning your CE credit. Head over to any of these places to get started today!
