The purpose of the LeadershipOAR is to identify emerging REALTOR® leaders and potential Association leadership; empower those individuals to maximize their leadership potential; encourage those individuals to participate in Association leadership roles; and to incorporate those individuals into the Association’s committee/leadership structure.
Purpose of LeadershipOAR
The participants of LeadershipOAR will:
- Increase their awareness of real estate and understand the state association
- Be involved in problem-solving activities on issues of current interest
- Network with leaders across the state who are actively involved in improving our association and profession
- Develop team-building and leadership skills
- Learn to communicate clearly and effectively
- Understand the requirements to be an effective leader
- Examine management and relationship-building principles
- Learn to balance life and work
Completed applications along with a recent photo and two letters of recommendation are required to be considered for an interview. Application packets are reviewed and participants are selected by an anonymous committee of LeadershipOAR graduates and members. 12 participants will be selected for the program. Efforts are made to balance participants according to business specialty, geography and other demographics.
The tuition cost for 2020 is $1,695. This tuition includes all training sessions, meals, instructional materials and overnight accommodations (on a double sharing basis). Additional costs to the participants will include transportation to and from the meetings or retreat sites and minimal expenses, which may be incurred during the field exercise phase of the program. There is a $195 application fee which is due at the time you submit your application. This application fee will be applied towards tuition if you are accepted as a participant or returned if you are not selected. All participants are encouraged to reach out to their local board/association or other sponsor options to help them offset this cost.
Applications should include as much information as possible. Additional pages may be used if necessary. No applications will be considered without a recent photo and two letters of recommendation. Deadline for application is October 11, 2019. Applications will not be accepted after this date.
Who Should Apply?
Participation in LeadershipOAR is open to REALTORS® living in the state of Oklahoma and will be chosen by the LeadershipOAR Selection Committee based upon the information provided in this application. The Committee will be seeking representation from a cross-section of the profession. These leaders and potential leaders will be active in either business, education, the arts, spiritual groups, government, community-based organizations, ethnic or minority groups, or real estate specialty areas, and will reflect the diversity of the organization.
