REALTORS® pledge to abide by a strict Code of Ethics safeguarding our clients and the public. At Oklahoma REALTORS®, we ensure all members uphold these values through the professional standards administration process. If anyone believes an Oklahoma REALTOR® has violated the Code of Ethics, they may file a complaint, whether they are a member or not.
Ethics & Complaints
The Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® brings members together through events that inspire, educate, and connect.
From statewide conferences to local networking and leadership development opportunities, OAR events are designed to empower over 13,500 REALTORS® with the knowledge, relationships, and experiences that elevate both their business and the real estate profession.
Code of Ethics
NAR’s Code of Ethics, adopted in 1913, ensures that consumers are served by requiring REALTORS® to cooperate with each other in furthering clients’ best interests.

Filing a Complaint
Before you file an ethics complaint, please review the document entitled “Before You File an Ethics Complaint.” This resource explains the process and suggests workable alternatives to the complaint process. Only REALTORS® and REALTOR-ASSOCIATES® are subject to NAR’s Code of Ethics.
Complaints Involving Non-REALTORS®
If you have a complaint about a licensee who is not a REALTOR®, please contact the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission (OREC) since non-members aren’t bound by the REALTOR® Code. If you have questions about filing a Code of Ethics complaint, contact OAR at 405-848-9944 or email us for guidance.
To File an Ethics Complaint Against a REALTOR® Member
Complete the Online Ethics Complaint Form and provide a detailed description of the situation. Please cite the Article(s) of the Code of Ethics you believe were violated. Once filed, the complaint will undergo a review process involving members of OAR’s Professional Standards Committee from across the state.
Process
After submission, your complaint will be reviewed by the Grievance Committee to determine if a hearing is warranted. If so, it will proceed to a hearing panel of the Professional Standards Committee, where both parties can present evidence and testimony. The panel will then decide if a violation occurred and recommend disciplinary action if appropriate.
Note: Our Professional Standards process is designed to ensure fairness and integrity. It reinforces the value of the REALTOR commitment to ethical practice. For more information on the Code of Ethics or our enforcement procedures, contact OAR’s Professional Standards Administrator.
